The Pre‑Cleaner Assembly is an ancillary air intake component used in Escort, Swaraj, and Ford series tractors/engines. It is installed upstream of the main air filter to separate and trap larger particulates (dust, grit, sand, chaff) from the incoming air stream. This reduces the dust load on the main air filter, thus extending its life, reducing maintenance frequency, and improving engine protection especially in dusty field conditions.
Features & Construction
-
Separation Mechanism: Often uses cyclonic or centrifugal action — the incoming air is induced to swirl or spin so heavier particles are flung outward and settle, while cleaner air proceeds inward to the main filter.
-
Housing & Cap: Sturdy metal body with a protective cap (could also be steel, cast iron, or sheet metal). The cap may be removable for inspection / cleaning.
-
Inlet & Outlet Connections: Flanged or ducted interfaces to connect with the air intake piping and the main filter housing. Rubber/seal gaskets may be used.
-
Dust Collection / Drain: A bowl, chamber or reservoir to collect the separated dust, with a provision for periodic draining or emptying.
-
Mounting Brackets / Fixings: Integral flanges or brackets to mount the unit securely to tractor frame or intake system.
-
Surface Protection: Painted, powder-coated or otherwise treated to resist rust and corrosion in field environments.
-
Ease of Maintenance: Designed for ease of access — the cap or cover can typically be removed for cleaning or clearing blockages.
